How long does the production take?
Each production is uniquely made around you and your family, and obviously this is time consuming. As a guide we guarantee that all Time Capsule documentaries will be completed within 8 weeks. Please see our brochure for more information including details of our Fast Track service.

Can you visit/film at evenings and weekends?
Yes. We can visit on weekday evenings and on Saturdays. However, please bear in mind that these times are very popular and at busy periods may need booking a few weeks in advance.

Can I use copyrighted music?
Yes. All our documentaries include the use of broadcast quality music in the price (we use the same high quality archive as many Channel 4, Five and Sky producers). However if you require a favourite song to appear in your documentary there is usually a small fee payable to the performer. This is collected and licensed by MCPS and typically costs £35 - £45 per track. We will arrange this licensing at no extra fee.

Can I use copyrighted film clips?
Yes. We have access to both the BBC and CBS archives. The cost for using film clips varies but, as with copyrighted music, we will do all the arranging for you at no extra cost.

How long will the finished film be?
A typical Time Capsule documentary is about 30 minutes in length. (As a guide, an episode of Coronation Street, without the adverts is only 23 minutes.)

However all productions are different. If you feel that you want a feature length epic then, as always, get in touch for a chat.

How do you know what to include?
Initially we have a comprehensive questionnaire that your producer will go through with you. This will enable us to get a feeling of who you are and also to begin a stocktake of all your photos and videos. This is your story, so if you want to include something just let your producer know.

You've already started editing and I've just found a box full of old home videos that I'd like to include in my documentary. Can you help?

Don't panic. This happens all the time. Simply contact your producer and we'll pick up the newly found footage.

Will my DVD's work abroad?
Yes... Perhaps? DVDs and VHS cassettes produced for UK viewing may or may not work in other countries (it’s a technical thing!). However we can arrange for special versions of DVDs to be produced specifically for viewing in foreign countries. Ask your producer for details.

What equipment do I need to watch a DVD?

Just a standard DVD player (or even a PC/Mac with a DVD drive installed). All our finished productions are presented on high quality DVD-R discs. 94% of all DVD players will play these discs (that's why we use them!). Your producer will be glad to check your player's compatiblity for you. If you want to check compatibilty for yourself then we recommend a visit to videohelp.com's exhaustive compatibilty list.

If you don't own a DVD player don't worry. We can supply the finished video on VHS cassette at no extra cost.

Can I have extra copies made of my documentary?

Of course you can.

Privacy and Ethics?
We operate a stringent Privacy and Ethics Policy of which we are proud. You can be assured that your photographs and videos will be cared for at all times. Likewise, we will not share any information you provide with any other individual or organisation. Download a full copy of our Privacy and Ethics Policy here [PDF 24k].

Do you do wedding videos?
No. We only produce high end personal documentaries. However, if your wedding video is not up to scratch then we may be able to help by producing a documentary about the wedding, incorporating your existing footage. Get in touch for an informal, no-obligation chat.

Do you transfer cine film or VHS to DVD?
As part of our documentary services we can convert Standard 8mm cine, Super 8mm cine, or VHS for use in the final DVD. See our brochure for details.
